Job summary

Audible is seeking a Software Development Engineer to define, design, and refine systems powering our audiobook platform. You will build and maintain software used by millions of listeners, collaborating with teammates to deliver customer-centric solutions.

You will apply computer science and engineering principles, write scalable code, and help improve testability and documentation across owned components, while mentoring fellow engineers in an innovative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C#.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose language such as Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/Engineering/DS or related STEM fields.
• Experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and OO design.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications.
• Identify and resolve defects via code review, log analysis, debugging and troubleshooting.
• Write maintainable, scalable code as part of an agile team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software.
• Apply CS, engineering and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems.
• Enhance testability, operational excellence, and documentation for owned components.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will...

• Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications for the world's largest audiobook creator and provider
• Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods
• Write maintainable and scalable code for software components as part of an agile engineering team
• Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software that inspires and impacts users
• Apply computer science, engineering, and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems
• Continuously enhance testability, operational excellence (OE), and documentation for owned software components
• Handle data classification, storage, and management in accordance with company policies
• Participate in the interview process and provide mentorship to fellow engineers

• Are 18 years of age or older
• Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
• Experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and/or object-oriented design principles
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields OR completed a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in specified fields
