Audible is hiring a Software Development Engineer to define, design, and refine the tech behind our platform that brings thousands of stories to millions of listeners. You will work with a dedicated team to build and maintain scalable software in an agile environment.

You will contribute to debugging, testing, and deploying customer-centric solutions while applying CS principles to solve real-world problems. A collaborative culture and continuous learning are emphasized throughout.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/CE/DS or related STEM fields.
  • Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language (Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications.
  • Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods.
  • Write maintainable and scalable code for software components as part of an agile team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software.
  • Apply CS, engineering, and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems.
  • Enhance testability, OE, and documentation for owned components.
  • Handle data classification, storage, and management per company policies.
  • Participate in interview processes and mentor fellow engineers.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will
  • Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications for the world's largest audiobook creator and provider
  • Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods
  • Write maintainable and scalable code for software components as part of an agile engineering team
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software that inspires and impacts users
  • Apply computer science, engineering, and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems
  • Continuously enhance testability, operational excellence (OE), and documentation for owned software components
  • Handle data classification, storage, and management in accordance with company policies
  • Participate in the interview process and provide mentorship to fellow engineers

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
  • Experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and/or object-oriented design principles
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields OR completed a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in specified fields
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience from previous technical internship(s) or demonstrated project experience
  • Experience with one or more of the following: AI tools for development productivity, Cloud platforms (preferably AWS), Database systems (SQL and NoSQL), Contributing to open-source projects, Version control systems, Debugging and troubleshooting complex systems
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
