Job summary

Amazon seeks a Software Development Engineer for the AmazonAPI Infrastructure team in Seattle to help scale a RESTful data platform and improve developer productivity. You will contribute to designing end-to-end experiences, building robust services, and enabling thousands of teams to access data efficiently.

The mission of AmazonAPI is to accelerate the Amazon.com shopping experience by making core shopping data accessible to teams through a single consistent REST endpoint. We own client libraries (in Java and TypeScript, for IOS and Android) used by 3500+ client teams for retrieving data, the Contracts Domain Specific Language used to define APIs, and backend integrations to connect 200+ services with specific business logic. We work with data owners across Amazon to standardize shopping data where necessary, allowing developers to easily build new shopping experiences without worrying about gathering data from multiple sources.

As an engineer on AmazonAPI, you will be a key technical advocate for partner teams as they integrate and use our platform. You will contribute to the design and development of the end-to-end developer experience. You will work with senior leaders across Amazon, finding solutions to multi-dimensional problems and driving a consistent platform experience across the different parts of the AmazonAPI product suite.

About the team

AmazonAPI's mission is to be the data plane for the Store website. Our goal is to be the one stop shop for any team's store data needs at Amazon. This means we provide APIs for all different types of data such as product data, customer data, deals data, etc.. Our service's traffic has doubled every year and it processes millions of transactions every second. We work on problems like providing high quality developer centric APIs, enhancing API discoverability, building strongly typed client libraries, and improving the developer experience.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
