Amazon Photos is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join the AI/ML inference team, as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible with computer vision and deep learning technologies for Amazon Photos. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build exciting features being built by Amazon Photos using AI/ML technologies and delight our large customer base by providing them with fulfilling customer experiences. We have challenging tasks ahead in our roadmap in problem spaces like image and video understanding, semantic and natural language search and we are looking for an engineer to spearhead development of these features.

Key job responsibilities

1. You will work on a backend team building new experiences and features for the Photos product.
2. You will develop computer vision and AI/ML based solutions using the latest technologies and design them to operate efficiently at a high scale.
3. Your solutions will help resolve product and architectural deficiencies.
4. You will work closely with business, product, and technical stakeholders, investigate design approaches, evaluate technical feasibility, and drive measurable success.
5. You will work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software with limited guidance.
6. You will contribute to improving engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices on your team. You’ll help define standards and implement them as well.

One of our top priorities is scaling our semantic natural language search feature across the U.S. and international markets. This will involve leveraging advanced AI and machine learning capabilities to power enhanced search and memory generation for our customers. We also plan to expand our understanding of images and videos, extracting additional signals from them to drive better customer experiences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
