Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers, moving millions of units of inventory, employing tens of thousands, and ensuring timely delivery to customers. We develop automated solutions for tasks suited to technology, while relying on humans for others. Our team is creating a new Flow Control architecture to automate flow from dock to dock (Inbound through Outbound), providing standard interfaces for integrating new flow controllers and adapting to evolving fulfillment center designs.

Key job responsibilities

We seek a Software Development Engineer to join our team of versatile engineers driving strategic initiatives within the AFT Flow domain. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and developing scalable, highly available systems in native AWS environments, with proficiency in new technologies. Collaboration with product, science, and operations stakeholders to deliver critical features and products is essential.

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network by inventing and delivering software, hardware, and data science solutions that coordinate processes, robots, machines, and people, harmonizing the physical and virtual worlds to meet customer expectations.

Outbound Flow

The Outbound Flow team combines data science and innovative technologies to optimize throughput in fulfillment centers, ensuring safe, sustainable, cost-effective, and timely deliveries that delight customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, including patterns, reliability, and scaling
• Experience programming in at least one software language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
