Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates software, hardware, and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers, moving millions of units of inventory, employing tens of thousands of people, and ensuring timely delivery to customers. We develop automated solutions for tasks well-suited for technology, while leveraging human skills where necessary. Our team is creating a new Flow Control architecture to automate flow control from dock to dock (Inbound through Outbound). This architecture will offer standard interfaces for integrating new flow controllers, enabling adaptation to Amazon's evolving fulfillment center designs.

Key job responsibilities

We seek a Software Development Engineer to join our team of versatile engineers, driving strategic initiatives within the AFT Flow domain. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and developing highly scalable and available systems in native AWS environments, utilizing new technologies. Collaboration with product, science, and operations stakeholders to deliver critical features and products is essential.

About the team

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network by developing software, hardware, and data science solutions that coordinate processes, robots, machines, and people. We integrate the physical and virtual worlds to ensure customers receive their orders promptly.

Outbound Flow

The Outbound Flow team combines data science and innovative technologies to optimize throughput in fulfillment centers, ensuring safe, sustainable, cost-effective, on-time package deliveries that delight customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
  • 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, including patterns, reliability, and scalability
  • Experience programming in at least one software language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
