We are responsible for the tax platform, providing the core services that calculate taxes (sales tax and VAT) for all Amazon sales, physical and digital, globally, and generate tax invoices for the same. We thrive on providing the correct tax amounts to the customer at order time, ensuring audit records are stored safely to meet tax law requirements worldwide, and generating tax-compliant invoices for our customers. Our challenges include staying on top of the complex and ever-changing global tax rates and laws, as well as computing calculations correctly and quickly, thousands of times a second, with each one being accurate.

As a software development engineer on this team, you will play a pivotal role in:

• Driving business decisions through technical contributions
• Designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining innovative software solutions to optimize services, reduce costs, and enhance security
• Applying software engineering best practices to ensure high-quality team deliverables
• Writing high-quality distributed system software
• Working in an agile, startup-like development environment focused on priority tasks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
• 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, focusing on reliability and scalability
• Experience supporting title development, release, or live operations in the video games industry
• Proficiency in at least one programming language
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
