Job summary

Audible is seeking a Software Development Engineer to define, design and refine the tech that powers millions of listeners worldwide. You will lead design efforts, collaborate with a fast-moving agile team, and deliver high-quality software that scales with user demand.

You'll work on contracts and rights systems, mentor peers, and influence architecture while prioritizing reliability, performance and maintainability across the platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software components and applications for one of the largest creator and provider of audiobooks in the world
• Collaborate on an agile engineering team, writing scalable and maintainable code and influencing team decisions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer‑centric software solutions
• Utilize technology to tackle challenging problems and deliver high‑quality code on schedule
• Demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of data structures and algorithms, applying them effectively
• Independently clarify technical requirements, assess development estimates, and employ diverse design approaches
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Foster continuous improvement in software quality, customer experience, and product maintainability
• Mentor and lead developers, fostering curiosity and deep technical understanding

We build and operate Audible’s contracts and rights system — that ensures content providers are onboarded, published and paid correctly. Our system manages thousands of contracts serving as the source for systems that depend on real-time access at scale. We are currently building the future of contract management in partnership with Amazon — a strategic initiative modernizing how Audible manages provider relationships at scale.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will...

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
