Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a Software Developer (Scientist 2) within the ASENT team of the Nuclear Systems Group (NEN-5) to support nuclear safeguards and security applications. You will develop new software, modernize legacy systems, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver solutions for national security and international safeguards.

The role emphasizes strong software engineering fundamentals, experience with Agile/DevOps, and the ability to navigate high-security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 4+ years related experience
• Ability to work in a high-security environment with strict compliance
• Experience with modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, SCRUM)
• Experience designing and integrating production-ready RESTful services

Responsibilities

• Develop new software for a wide customer base internal and external
• Maintain and modify existing software per customer needs
• Write, test, and deploy applications using modern development methodologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define work scope and software requirements
• Work independently or in SCRUM teams to ensure continuous product improvement
• Prepare proposals for new and ongoing work
• Foster a collaborative, respectful team culture
• Embody a growth mindset and learn beyond primary expertise
• Identify strategic partners benefiting from NEN-5's expertise
• Travel domestically or internationally as program needs
