Job summary

Barrios Technology, an engineering solutions partner supporting NASA and the space industry, is seeking a Software Developer I focused on Applications and Data to build internal infrastructure and tools used on NASA and customer contracts. You will design, implement, test, and maintain applications across the full stack using Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, or PHP on Linux environments.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or anticipated by Dec 2026.
• 0–5 years of experience.
• Proficiency in more than one programming language (e.g., C++, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, PHP).
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OOP.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, tools, and services for internal operations and contracts.
• Write clean, readable code in languages such as Python, PHP, C++, Java, C#, JavaScript, or others as project needs dictate.
• Develop backend logic and support front-end interfaces with usability focus.
• Design relational database schemas and write efficient SQL queries.
• Build utilities and automation scripts to streamline workflows.
• Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and support cloud or on-prem hosting.
• Apply solid data structures, algorithms, and OOP to create scalable, reliable solutions.
• Write unit tests and ensure code quality, security, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, IT operations, and other engineers to meet requirements.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in Linux/UNIX and Windows environments.
• Participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies.
