Job summary

Fujitsu in Richardson, Texas and other Texas locations seeks an experienced SDN software lead to architect and implement advanced network controller software. You will transform complex requirements into scalable Java/Scala architectures and data models for SDN controller functionality.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, drive end‑to‑end features, and collaborate with vendors to meet customer needs while applying OOAD and modern SDN standards in a multi‑layer transport network environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of experience in Transport Network management solutions across DWDM, OTN and Packet layers.
• Expertise in Core Java, Scala, threads, collections and data structures.
• Expertise in OOAD, design patterns, UML modelling.
• Hands-on with Open Daylight (ODL) and SDN controller development.
• Experience with Netconf, TL1 and modelling tools like Yang, JSON, XML.
• Good knowledge of Oracle/MySQL/Cassandra databases.
• 2–3 full-cycle NMS product developments.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, HDFS, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Spark.
• REST API design and development expertise.
• Exposure to Kafka and Java frameworks like OSGi, Spring.
• Experience with Junit, Jenkins, Postman for CI/CD.
• Familiarity with Git, Gerrit, JIRA, Agile/Scrum.
• Demonstrated technical leadership for end-to-end features.

Responsibilities

• Lead the SDN applications software functions in SDN Topology and Southbound functions.
• Lead Layer 0 (DWDM), Layer 1 (OTN) and Layer 2 (Packet) SDN app functions on a SDN controller NS.
• Participate in requirement analysis, design, development and maintenance of SDN controller components.
• Engage in Open ROADM forum discussions for service modelling and interoperability.
• Model telecom/data domains using ITU-T, ONF, MTNM standards.
• Accountable for planned execution and software quality.
• Investigate issues, track status, and resolve during System Test.
• Interface with vendors, monitor progress and evaluate platform performance.
• Drive features end-to-end, lead the team and manage multiple tasks.

Job Summary

Virtuora Network Controller (VNC) is a modular suite of software products that enable virtualized, programmable networks using micro‑services architecture and open source technologies. We are looking for an experienced lead software engineer who is an expert in Java/Scala and can transform complex requirements into extendable software architecture, design, and data models for SDN controller functionality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the SDN applications software functions in SDN Topology and Southbound application functions.
• Lead Layer 0 (DWDM), Layer 1 (OTN) and Layer 2 (Packet) SDN application functions on a SDN controller based Network Management System.
• Participate in requirement analysis, design, development and maintenance of multiple software components of SDN controller to meet customer requirements using innovative technologies.
• Participate in the Open ROADM Multi-Source Agreement forum technical discussions and solve complex service modelling and vendor interoperability challenges.
• Participate in Telecommunication/Data Communication domain modelling using standards like ITU‑T, ONF, MTNM.
• Accountable for as‑planned execution and quality of the applications developed.
• Issue investigation, status, and resolution during System Test.
• Interface with, monitor progress and evaluate performance of external SW vendors that provide SW for the Platform.
• Drive features end‑to‑end, technically lead the team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of experience in product development of Transport Network management solutions – Layer 0 (DWDM), Layer 1 (OTN) and Layer 2 (Packet) technologies.
• Expertise in Core Java, Scala, threads, collections and data structures.
• Expertise in OOAD, design patterns, UML modelling.
• Hands‑on experience with Open Daylight (ODL) and SDN controller development.
• Hands‑on experience with various communication protocols such as Netconf, TL1 and modelling tools such as Yang, Json, XML.
• Good knowledge of databases Oracle/MySQL/Cassandra.
• Experience in at least 2–3 full‑cycle development of Network Management System products.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, HDFS, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Spark and distributed big‑data systems.
• Expertise in designing and developing REST APIs.
• Exposure to messaging frameworks like Kafka and Java related frameworks like OSGI, Spring, Blueprint.
• Experience in unit test, continuous integration (CI/CD) frameworks such as Junit, Jenkins, Postman.
• Familiarity with Git, Gerrit, JIRA, Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Demonstrated technical leadership ability, leading end‑to‑end feature development.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to graph data structures/database, path computation algorithm implementation like Dijkstra, Yen.
