Job summary

FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) is seeking a Software Developer to build and run the web applications the company depends on. You own production apps end to end—from code and data to deployment and on-call fixes—while advancing platforms to Microsoft 365 GCC High and Azure Government for DoD customers.

This hands-on role collaborates with an executive product owner and works with React/TypeScript front ends, Python services, and PostgreSQL, hosted on serverless cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3-6 years of professional software development, with at least 2 years in production for real users.
• Strong TypeScript and React; Python; SQL and PostgreSQL schema design.
• Experience deploying and operating cloud apps on at least two major clouds (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including serverless or containers.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure Identity (Entra ID, conditional access, RBAC) or willingness to learn quickly.
• Hands-on experience with large language model APIs: prompt design, retrieval, structured output, evaluation.
• Git-based workflow, code review, and automated testing as habits.
• Clear written communication; ability to explain design decisions to non-technical colleagues.
• US citizenship.
• Curiosity and ownership; you’d rather figure it out than wait for a ticket.

You will own production applications end to end: the code, the data, the deployment, and the 2 a.m. fix when something breaks. You will also help move our platforms into Microsoft 365 GCC High and Azure Government so they meet the security requirements of our Department of Defense customers. This is a hands-on builder role, not a maintenance seat. You work directly with the executive who owns our product effort, who writes code and will review yours. You inherit a working portfolio of React and TypeScript applications backed by Python services and PostgreSQL, hosted on serverless cloud infrastructure. The applications serve internal teams and are moving toward customer use. Some integrate with large language model APIs. Several are ready to move from prototype data to live integrations. Harden what exists into production-grade services with monitoring, tests, and clean deployments. Then build the next generation of AI-driven features on top of a compliant foundation. Work Schedule and Location:

Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday.

Pay Range

$150,000 to $175,000, depending on experience, education and clearance level.
