Job Description

As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will have broad ownership of core technical components and services. You will guide the engineering team and lead the development of cloud services that enable streaming providers to migrate their workloads to OCI. These services include playback, content augmentation, video transcoding and packaging, content delivery, streaming analytics, and flexible billing & cost analytics. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a competitive product from the ground up and expand OCI’s presence in the media and entertainment industry. Collaboration with engineering leaders to shape project success, leveraging your experience as a lead developer, is essential.

Qualifications

• BS/CS in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of software development experience.
• Experience in large-scale software development, cloud services, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of video playback, encoding technologies, content delivery via CDNs, and live streaming is highly desired.
• Proven experience as a lead developer in designing, implementing, and operating cloud services.
• Ability to work with geographically distributed teams.
• Strong background in software implementation, code review, failure analysis.
• Designing for availability, scalability, observability, and recoverability.

Responsibilities

1. Research emerging technologies and industry best practices.
2. Design cloud service architecture, micro-services, and ensure scalability and availability.
3. Implement services and micro-services components.
4. Collaborate within the engineering team to deliver cloud services for streaming workloads migration.
5. Lead the launch of new cloud services and establish operational excellence.
6. Engage with geographically distributed teams.
7. Mentor and develop engineering talent.
8. Establish and promote development standards and best practices.
9. Define OKRs and KPIs for decision-making and prioritization.

Additional Information
