Job Description:
The Texas Department of Public Safety (via DIR) is seeking a highly experienced Software Developer 3 with strong hands-on expertise in Visual Basic (VB), Java, and Microsoft SQL Server development. The ideal candidate will provide ongoing support, bug fixes, and enhancements to mission-critical agency applications. This includes data corrections, application troubleshooting, and documentation creation for existing and new software.
Specialty Areas:
• Visual Basic development – legacy application maintenance and enhancement
• Java development – integrating and supporting core applications
• SQL Server – writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting queries and stored procedures
• Application Support – handling incident tickets, resolving data issues, and ensuring operational continuity
• Software Documentation – creating user and technical documentation for all new/updated code
Responsibilities:
• Support and maintain existing applications using Visual Basic and Java
• Perform complex SQL Server query development and data troubleshooting
• Edit, correct, or develop new solutions to remedy application issues
