Job description

Prescient Edge is seeking a Software Developer to support a government client.

The successful candidate will work with architects, engineers, and subject matter experts in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) headquarters and component staffs, vendors, and other supporting contract organizations. The Software Developer will support the development and sustainment of emerging capabilities in a high-performance agile team.

This is a telework position.

Responsibilities :

  • Regularly work with government and other Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) stakeholders to execute systems engineering requirements and design processes and reviews.
  • Participate in design sessions, technical reviews, and implement new solutions.
  • Support the development, execution, and maintenance of Requirements and Design Specifications to include and not limited to the Requirements Traceability Matrix and Logical Design Document.
  • Support the planning and execution of system tests, demonstrations, and evaluations.
  • Coordinate, track, and report software development.
  • Support technical planning and oversight to ensure the IPT is meeting the Program Increment commitments.
  • Collect and report metrics.
  • Diagnose and resolve defects.
  • Conduct Systems Engineering analysis for software and hardware integration, embedded systems, and data management.
  • Building and maintaining interface control documents.

Security Clearance :

  • Must be able to pass DHS entry of duty (EOD) requirements including background investigation for DHS suitability with the ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability, and a Public Trust security clearance to start.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Work location in the continental U.S.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline (e.g., BSEE, BSCS).
  • Minimum 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with Agile and Scrum SDLC methodologies.
  • Fluent with Apache family of languages (e.g. Spring, Tomcat, Java, etc.)
  • Experience with formal software application life-cycle management tools (e.g. Jira and Confluence)
  • Ability to travel if needed.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of relevant experience working with DHS Components including DHS Office of Operations Coordination, OCIO, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), and/or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
  • Familiar with DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) framework.
  • 2+ years of development experience within Azure and other Cloud hosted environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple government, contractor, subcontractor, and other stakeholders to complete projects in compressed timeframes.
  • Residents around the Washington, D.C. metropolitan are recommended.
