Halvik Corp is seeking a mid-level Java Software Developer to build and maintain Java web-based applications in support of NASA SEWP. The role sits within a dynamic IT solutions team serving a major government acquisition contract.

The candidate will participate across the SDLC, perform code reviews, and collaborate with developers, DB admins, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software on schedule. This is a on-site, full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of experience developing Java applications.
• 1+ years of experience writing SQL queries (Oracle preferred).
• 1+ years in an Agile software development environment.
• Experience with data formats JSON/XML.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new web applications to support the NASA SEWP Program.
• Enhance and maintain Java web-based applications focusing on usability and performance.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC from requirements to production launch.
• Perform peer code reviews and testing to ensure software quality.
• Collaborate with developers, DB admins, CMS and stakeholders.
• Document designs and requirements for future maintenance.
• Adhere to project schedules and escalate issues as needed.
• Contribute to an Agile development environment and support deployment outside core hours.

Position Overview

NASA SEWP is seeking a mid-level Java Software Developer to build and maintain internal and external Java web-based applications. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our IT solutions team of developers, database and systems administrators in support the NASA SEWP Program Management Office, a multi-award government acquisition contract focused on commercial IT products and product based services.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new web applications to support the NASA SEWP Program
• Develop, enhance, and maintain Java web-based applications that support the NASA SEWP Program focusing on usability and performance
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, coding, implementation and production launch
• Perform peer code reviews and application testing to include unit, integration, regression and performance testing to maintain software quality and integrity
• Collaborate with application developers, database and systems administrators, content management and internal stakeholders
• Document system, component, and interface designs and requirements to ensure future maintainability
• Adhere to project schedules and proactively resolve or elevate issues to management
• Adapt and contribute to a fast-paced, Agile application development environment
• Participate in the maintenance and deployment of projects, providing support outside normal core business hours as needed

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 2+ years of experience developing Java applications
• 1+ years of experience writing SQL queries, preferably including experience with Oracle
• 1+ years of experience working in an Agile software development environment
• Experience with data interchange formats including JSON and XML
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Expertise

• Experience with JSP and/or Spring preferred
• Full stack experience including front-end web development (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) is a plus
