Job summary

Halvik Corp is seeking a mid-level Java Software Developer to build and maintain Java web-based applications for NASA SEWP. You will join a team supporting the PMO, participate across the SDLC, and collaborate with DBAs, developers, and stakeholders in a fast-paced Agile setting.

Requirements include a BS in CS or related field, 2+ years Java, 1+ year SQL (Oracle preferred), and experience with JSON/XML. JSP/Spring and front-end basics are a plus.

• 2+ years of experience developing Java applications.
• 1+ years of experience writing SQL queries (Oracle preferred).
• 1+ years of experience in an Agile software development environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java web applications to support the NASA SEWP Program.
• Enhance and maintain Java applications focusing on usability and performance.
• Participate in all SDLC phases from requirements to production launch.
• Perform peer code reviews and testing (unit/integration/performance).
• Collaborate with application developers, DBAs, content management and stakeholders.
• Document system, component, and interface designs for future maintainability.
• Adapt to a fast-paced Agile environment and support deployments outside core hours.

Position Overview

NASA SEWP is seeking a mid-level Java Software Developer to build and maintain internal and external Java web-based applications. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our IT solutions team of developers, database and systems administrators in support the NASA SEWP Program Management Office, a multi-award government acquisition contract focused on commercial IT products and product based services.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new web applications to support the NASA SEWP Program
• Develop, enhance, and maintain Java web-based applications that support the NASA SEWP Program focusing on usability and performance
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, coding, implementation and production launch
• Perform peer code reviews and application testing to include unit, integration, regression and performance testing to maintain software quality and integrity
• Collaborate with application developers, database and systems administrators, content management and internal stakeholders
• Document system, component, and interface designs and requirements to ensure future maintainability
• Adhere to project schedules and proactively resolve or escalate issues to management
• Adapt and contribute to a fast-paced, Agile application development environment
• Participate in the maintenance and deployment of projects, providing support outside normal core business hours as needed
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 2+ years of experience developing Java applications
• 1+ years of experience writing SQL queries, preferably including experience with Oracle
• 1+ years of experience working in an Agile software development environment
• Experience with data interchange formats including JSON and XML
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
  
  

Preferred Expertise

• Experience with JSP and/or Spring preferred
• Full stack experience including front-end web development (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) is a plus
