Job summary

RTX, Marlborough, Massachusetts, seeks a Software Section Leader to guide the Ground & Maritime Defense Radar Software Department. You will oversee software personnel in a dynamic agile environment, drive discipline, and collaborate across teams to meet program needs.

The role emphasizes leadership, performance feedback, career development, salary and staffing planning, policy alignment, and assisting the department leader on major program tasks. Onsite presence is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM with at least 8 years of experience.
• Experience in leadership roles.
• Proficient in C++ and software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum and CI.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Proven leadership, cost/schedule management, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Experience in defense software development and embedded/real-time systems.

We are seeking a motivated Software Section Leader to join the Ground & Maritime Defense Radar Software Department. As a Section Leader, you will be responsible for the oversight of software personnel to meet program needs. The ideal candidate is a well-disciplined individual with a proven applicable technical background, who can thrive in a dynamic agile environment and is able to work well in a team setting.

What You Will Do

This position requires exclusive onsite presence.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of experience
• Experience in functional or program leadership role
• Experience in software development life cycle using C++
• Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated testing and continuous integration
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
• We Prefer Proven skills in leadership and management including prior experience in a functional role
• Cost / Schedule Management and Reporting experience
• Customer focus and collaboration skills
• Effective presence and influential leadership capability, with the ability to interact with senior levels of leadership effectively – including customer, teammates and suppliers
• Technical software skills and experience in defense software development programs
• Experience in embedded systems, real-time systems, or large-scale applications

This position is in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Living in Massachusetts means you’ll have easy access to the ocean and locations of historical significance. The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
