Role overview

This senior backend engineering role focuses on building the payment infrastructure that powers installment and deferred payment solutions for tens of thousands of merchants and millions of consumers across Europe. The position involves designing APIs and backend services for a regulated fintech environment, with significant influence over technical architecture and reliability practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the APIs and backend components that power payments across multiple European markets


• Write maintainable, production-grade code that meets the quality, security, and performance standards of a regulated financial company


• Collaborate closely with Product and other tech leaders to evolve the technical architecture as the business scales


• Lead incident response and performance troubleshooting, driving long-term improvements to platform resilience


• Work within a squad aligned to your skills and interests, contributing to cross-functional product delivery

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience on large-scale systems, excluding internships and apprenticeships


• Strong proficiency in Python and relational databases; openness to other backend languages but Python is the core stack


• Fluency in French with a solid working level of English


• Methodical problem-solving approach with strong communication skills and comfort in cross-functional environments

Nice to have

• Experience building payment or financial solutions


• Track record of influencing product and technical decisions at scale


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
