DraftKings seeks a Software Architect to define and evolve scalable, distributed architectural solutions across our platforms. You will collaborate with product, infrastructure, and platform teams to embed strong architectural principles and deliver high-availability systems.

You’ll contribute hands-on to critical initiatives, mentor engineers, and ensure observability and reliability are built into every layer while aligning with business strategy and future platform direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Proven ownership of architectural components of high-availability platforms.
• Strong expertise in scalable design patterns, performance optimization, reliability engineering, and cloud-based architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tooling.
• Excellent cross-team collaboration and clear communication.
• Mentoring engineers and improving engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve architectural solutions to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Design frameworks, tooling, and standards to enhance resilience and maintainability.
• Partner with Product, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to embed architectural principles into planning, design, and delivery.
• Contribute hands-on to prototypes, PoCs, and production systems demonstrating scalable, maintainable design.
• Guide teams in adopting robust distributed system patterns with fault tolerance and observability from day one.
• Provide design reviews and technical guidance to raise engineering quality.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to align architectural decisions with business priorities and platform strategy.
