Job summary

Parsons is seeking an exceptionally talented Software Architect to lead end-to-end architecture for a distributed microservices platform deployed globally. You will define governance across services, data flows, events, deployments, observability, fault tolerance, and recovery, while driving evolution of a Linux-based Java ecosystem for government, commercial, and customer systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture leadership of distributed or mission-critical systems.
• 5+ years architecting microservices-based platforms in production.
• Hands-on expertise with Java (JDK 21+), Linux (RHEL/Rocky), and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with core platform technologies: MongoDB, Elasticsearch/Logstash, RabbitMQ, and service discovery/orchestration/secrets tooling (Consul, Nomad, Vault, Kubernetes).
• Occasional travel ~10%.

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning the end-to-end software architecture for a distributed microservices platform deployed across global environments
• Defining and governing architecture across service boundaries, data flows, event patterns, deployment topologies, observability, fault tolerance, and recovery
• Leading the evolution of a modern Linux-based Java microservices ecosystem and the integration architecture for government, commercial, and customer-specific systems
• Architecting deployment patterns for multiple node types across constrained edge environments and centralized/cloud-heavy environments
• Overseeing architecture for peripheral and device services and ensuring the platform remains observable, supportable, and maintainable across all deployments

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• TS/SCI minimum clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree)
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture leadership of distributed or mission‑critical systems
• 5+ years architecting microservices-based platforms in production
• Hands‑on expertise with Java (JDK 21+), Linux (RHEL/Rocky), and distributed systems

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

• Experience with Vue.js 3 and modern frontend architecture for administrative/operational interfaces
• Experience designing hybrid cloud and edge deployment patterns
• Experience integrating with standards‑based government, identity, travel, or partner ecosystems
• Experience architecting systems with zero/low downtime upgrade paths or event replay/offline‑sync patterns
• Experience supporting platforms that integrate with scanners, readers, imaging devices, kiosks, or other edge hardware

Security Clearance Requirement

An active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required for this position.

This position is part of our Federal Solutions team.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $148,300.00 - $266,900.00
