Your day at NTT DATA

The Software Applications Development Engineer is a seasoned subject matter expert, responsible for developing new applications and improving upon existing applications based on the needs of the internal organization and/or external clients.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop applications that effectively accomplish client objectives and user needs.
• Design and write code for applications and maintain application databases.
• Analyze and edit existing software applications to improve and optimize functionality, fix problems, and enable their use on new hardware platforms.
• Remodel and adapt applications as needed to optimize performance.
• Identify specific client needs and preferences related to the application.
• Test applications extensively to ensure they are error and bug-free.
• Install applications and act as a technical advisor.
• Communicate with relevant internal technical stakeholders to obtain information on project limitations, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Consult with clients in the design phase to determine their needs.
• Produce software documentation following company processes and templates.
• Participate in software product review meetings and team meetings.
• Perform any other related tasks as required.

Knowledge and Attributes

• Strong understanding of computer science, including programming, application design, and user-focused features.
• Good team player who maintains the integrity of the team.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to understand and analyze complex systems.
• Proficiency in Java programming language and standard libraries.
• Knowledge of software development processes.
• Experience with agile development methodologies such as Scrum.
• Knowledge of integrated development environments.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Perl, Python, C++.
• Analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to handle client and customer issues professionally.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• Certifications in programming languages (Java, Perl, Python, C++) preferred.
• Scrum or project management certification preferred.

Required Experience

• Experience in software applications engineering or development.
• Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python.
• Experience working with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with SQL.
• Project management experience and/or working in an Agile environment.
