Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command in Patuxent River, MD is seeking a Sales Associate - Softlines (Flex) to be the face of our store, assist customers, and articulate our product offerings with education and professionalism.

Responsibilities include engaging customers, cross-selling, maintaining store appearance, handling POS, inventory processes, and teamwork. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; retail experience welcome.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of products merchandise.
• Retail experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read write and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate with customers peers and management. Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
• Basic math functions such as addition subtraction multiplication and division.
• Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Proactively engage and connect with customers; listen to needs and guide them to merchandise.
• Organization: Maintain store appearance and keep areas tidy.
• Sales: Cross-sell, upsell, and suggest products based on customer needs; know store layout and promotions; use POS system and handle cash.</br>Inventory: Participate in inventory processes and ticketing; support accuracy.
• Dependability: Adhere to assigned schedule; complete tasks and follow through.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
