Job summary

Newington Public Schools in Connecticut is seeking a qualified coach to instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and conditioning while fostering moral values, discipline and pride in achievement.

The coach will ensure compliance with CIAC and CCC rules, oversee pre-season meetings, supervise staff and facilities, and contribute to student academic progress and program continuity. This role supports district equity goals and community engagement.

Qualifications

• CT Teacher Certification or Five Year Renewable Coaching Permit/TECP.
• American Red Cross CPR and Standard First Aid Certificates.
• Concussion Education certificate from approved course.
• Head coach must keep up-to-date with technical aspects of the sport.

Responsibilities

• Organize and administer coaching for the team and enforce CIAC/CCC rules.
• Schedule pre-season meetings with students and parents.
• Coach students in sport-specific skills and strategy.
• Distribute required documents and obtain signatures.
• Supervise and evaluate coaching staff and facilities.
• Monitor student academic progress and maintain equipment inventory.
• Prepare and submit budget requests by October.
