Job summary

The School District of Lee County is seeking a dedicated Softball Head Coach in Fort Myers, FL to lead high school program development and student-athlete growth. You will plan practices, develop game strategies, and mentor players to balance academics and athletics.

Responsibilities include supervising practices and games, maintaining compliance with district policies, coordinating with the athletic director, and fostering a positive team culture that supports college opportunities.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
• Valid FHSAA certification.
• Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions.
• Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
• Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.
• Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics.
• Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players.
• Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
• Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms.
• Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use.
• Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
• Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
