Job summary

The School District of Lee County Riverdale High in Fort Myers, Florida is seeking an Assistant Coach Softball to support planning, organizing, and conducting regular practice sessions and assist with game strategies while teaching fundamental skills to student-athletes.

You will supervise practices and games, promote sportsmanship, ensure compliance with district rules, and communicate with parents. Evening and weekend work is required during the season.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
• Valid FHSAA certification.
• Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
• Prior coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting regular practice sessions.
• Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
• Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.
• Promote discipline, responsibility and good sportsmanship among players.
• Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
• Assist with maintenance of team equipment and uniforms.
• Assist with scheduling and facility use.
• Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
• Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
