Job summary

The University of Dubuque is seeking a Graduate Assistant- Softball Coach for the 2026-2027 term, with potential renewal for 2027-2028. The GA will analyze performance and instruct players, assist with travel, equipment, recruitment, and on-field setup.

Prerequisites include a Bachelor's degree, coaching or athletic experience, understanding of NCAA Division III/ARC rules, and strong communication skills. On-campus tuition is waived; a stipend and 20 hours/week service are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Prior coaching experience or athlete background.
• Experience as collegiate softball outfielder or teaching/outfield coaching knowledge.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference rules/compliance.
• Valid driver's license.
• Schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends).
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze performance and instruct athletes in softball mechanics and strategies.
• Assist head coach with program management: travel plans, laundry, equipment inventory, social media, campus visits.
• Assist with competitive recruiting in compliance with NCAA and ARC rules.
• Assist with pre-practice and pre-game setup (chalk lines, hitting stations).
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the University's mission.

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant- Softball Coach for the 2026-2027 term, with a potential renewal for 2027-2028.The University of Dubuque is a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the American Rivers Conference.Primary Responsibilities:-Analyze performance and instruct athletes in softball mechanics and strategies in preparation for and during athletic competitions-Assist the head coach in the coordination of program management including but not limited to, travel plans, laundry, equipment inventory, social media and campus visits-Assist program with all phases of competitive recruiting in compliance with NCAA and A-R-C rules-Assist with pre-practice and pre-game setup, i.e. Chalking lines, setting up hitting stations, etc.-Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's MissionRequirements:-Bachelor's degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters' program-Prior coaching experience and/or prior experience as an athlete-Experience as a collegiate softball outfielder or knowledge of how to teach & coach outfield at a high level-Working knowledge of NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference rules and compliance-Valid driver's license-Flexibility with schedule (ex. evening and/or weekend commitments)-High level of organization and attention to detail-Effective and confident communication skills; both orally and writtenAll graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA. In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week. This position is eligible for a stipend.
