Job summary

Great Hearts Christian Academy - Gilbert seeks a long-term 3rd grade substitute teacher to guide students in a values-driven, Socratic learning environment. The role emphasizes careful adherence to lesson plans, classroom safety, and active participation in school life.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree and has passed the appropriate content knowledge assessment (NES or Praxis). Fingerprint clearance is required for employment at GHCA campuses.

Qualifications

• Long-term substitute teachers must have a bachelor's degree and be highly qualified in the subjects they teach.
• Archway (K-5) grades, and all 6th grade teachers must have passed the NES Elementary content knowledge test (an equivalent test like the Praxis).

Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment that will feel safe for all students to learn and reach their fullest potential.
• Follow lesson plans and maintain orderly classroom environment.
• Provide timely and meaningful evaluation/correction of student work.
• Engage students using the Socratic method and lead with character and integrity.
• Communicate as needed with parents and support school policies and safety procedures.
