Sociology Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool) – Clovis Community College
Position for part‑time faculty in the Sociology department. Candidates will be placed in a continuous applicant pool and held for over 18 months. Start dates vary as vacancies arise.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Teach part‑time sociology courses as assigned.
- Use diverse pedagogies and technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Apply institutional curricula and course outlines.
- Assess student progress through tests, exams, assignments, and oral responses.
- Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records per district policy.
- Submit grading and evaluation reports timely.
- Teach and participate in various instructional settings and times.
- Perform all duties required under Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds (academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic).
- Master’s degree in sociology; or Bachelor’s in sociology plus Master’s in anthropology, ethnic studies, social work, or psychology; or a valid California Community College Credential; or an equivalent education/experience.
- Must petition for equivalency if transcripts do not match the stated criteria.

- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instruction.
- Recent work with underrepresented groups and sensitivity to historical exclusion.
- Willingness to examine and improve classroom practices for racially minoritized students.
- Professional experience in multicultural and cross‑cultural communication.
- Experience working with high‑need and under‑prepared community‑college students.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance curriculum and student success.
- Computer and technology proficiency for instruction and support.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Familiarity with assessment methods and community‑college mission.
Salary and Benefits
- New hires placed on step 1 of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification based on education and experience per the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
