Job summary

Clovis Community College seeks an equity-minded Ethnic Studies instructor to teach a part-time schedule and collaborate with faculty, staff and community partners to promote student success and close equity gaps.

Responsibilities include teaching assigned Ethnic Studies courses, using varied pedagogies and technology for face-to-face, online and hybrid formats, and communicating effectively with students and staff. Maintains records and submits grades promptly.

Ethnic Studies Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Clovis Community College is seeking an equity‑minded leader to teach a part‑time schedule of Ethnic Studies courses. The instructor will collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to promote student success and close equity gaps.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned part‑time Ethnic Studies courses.
• Employ varied pedagogies and innovative technology for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Use effective teaching methods that align with institutional curriculum outlines.
• Assess student progress through tests, essays, oral responses, and other criteria aligned with course objectives.
• Provide course syllabi to students.
• Maintain classroom records according to District Policy.
• Submit grading and evaluation reports promptly.
• Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times as needed.
• Perform all duties required of instructors under Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds and equity‑minded classroom practice.

• Master’s degree in African‑American/Black/Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian‑American Studies, Native American/American Indian Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a valid California Community College Credential.
• Or equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required if degrees do not match exactly).

• Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion in all responsibilities.
• Recent work with underrepresented student populations.
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional and relational practices to support minoritized students.
• Experience with multicultural communication and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction.
• Computer and technology proficiency for high‑quality instruction.
• Effective communication with students and staff.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and community‑college mission.

Salary and Benefits

• Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on Step 1 of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification based on education and experience per the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
• Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
