Job summary

UNM-Los Alamos is seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty to teach sociology courses online or in person at the 1000 or 2000 level. This is a continuous recruitment beginning Summer 2026 and openings depend on enrollment and course offerings.

Instructors are responsible for all aspects of the class, including meetings, content delivery, grading, reporting grades, and assessing student learning, as directed by the Program Coordinator. Preference for New Mexico residents.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the discipline or subfield or equivalent with 18 graduate credits in the discipline.
  • Preferred: terminal degree (Ph.D., MFA) and post-secondary teaching experience.
  • New Mexico residence preferred; strong commitment to local/global communities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach online and/or face-to-face Sociology courses at the 1000 or 2000 level.
  • Prepare, deliver, grade assignments, and assess student learning as directed by the Program Coordinator.
  • Meet classes, develop content, report grades, and manage course activities each semester.
