Job summary

US Department of Veterans Affairs in Indianapolis seeks a social worker to provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and treatment planning for Veterans and their families. The role requires MSW from a CSWE-accredited program and state licensure; supervision and growth opportunities exist within an interdisciplinary team.

Formal licensure is required or planned within three years; grandfathering may apply for current VA employees. EDRP is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Must possess a master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's level.
• For GS-9, licensure/certification may be waived temporarily with plan to obtain.
• Grandfathering provision may apply for current VA employees in this occupation.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial interventions and counseling to Veterans, family members, caregivers, and survivors.
• Assess psychosocial functioning and develop/implement treatment plans.
• Utilize various treatment modalities with individuals, families, and groups to meet goals.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, staff, and community providers.
