This position involves receiving, screening, and investigating reports of neglect, abuse, and exploitation of children. It also includes assessing, diagnosing, planning, and implementing treatment plans focused on preventing foster care and rehabilitating through services provided to intact families in their own homes. Applicants should be skilled in crisis intervention, decision-making, and capable of dealing with hostile clients, as well as capable of legal intervention involving law enforcement and the court system. Good communication skills are essential. The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of laws governing protective services. The position requires after-hours emergency duty, effective teamwork, and maintaining cooperative relationships with team members, community professionals, and agency leaders. A valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and intermediate personal computer skills are required.
Qualifications include:
One year of work experience can be credited for completing the social work collaborative.
PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants with a BSW or MSW degree, or a master's in human services with relevant social work courses and experience in a county social services department. Only applicants meeting these specific requirements will be considered for an interview.
