Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin is looking for a clinically licensed bilingual social worker for its Department of Surgery. This role involves providing direct clinical services to survivors of violence, including case management and psychotherapy within a multidisciplinary clinic.

Job description

The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (TACS) is seeking a clinically licensed, bilingual (Spanish and English) social worker. The position involves direct clinical services to adolescent and adult survivors of violence, including case management and group supervision within a multidisciplinary clinic.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical intakes using a trauma‑informed approach; assess presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status, and provide DSM‑5 diagnoses.
  • Provide short‑term, trauma‑informed individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Manage complex caseloads with comprehensive treatment and service plans, coordinating with other healthcare providers and community resources.
  • Provide clinical supervision to interns, participate in case conferences, and conduct in‑service trainings and community presentations.
  • Maintain client records in compliance with Wisconsin requirements, complete productivity forms, and contribute to program evaluation data collection.
  • Assist with program development, including implementation of measurement‑guided mental health treatment, and attend staff meetings and other required trainings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
  • Minimum experience: 3 years of clinical social work experience, with at least 3,000 hours of supervised clinical work (including 1,000 hours of face‑to‑face client contact) post‑certification as an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW).
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English; ability to provide clinical services in both languages.
  • Experience with evidence‑based trauma interventions such as prolonged exposure therapy or cognitive processing therapy.
  • Preferred education: Master’s (MSW) or Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree.
  • Requires Wisconsin provider status or Certified/ Licensed Clinical Social Worker license.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting of moderate weight materials; standing or walking continuously.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water in a controlled environment.
  • Ability to detect and translate speech; occasionally distinguish colors and perceive relative distances.
