Job summary

The 92nd Street Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association seeks an experienced Social Worker to support the Himan Brown Program. You will provide psychosocial care, coordinate services, and help promote well-being and engagement for older adults in a collaborative, family-like environment.

Responsibilities include counseling, program development, supervising interns, and connecting members with community resources.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited school and current licensure required.
• SIFI Certificate and/or willingness to become a SIFI supervisor.
• Strong understanding of psychosocial issues affecting older adults.
• Knowledge of community resources, benefits, entitlements, and referral networks.
• Experience facilitating groups and strong communication skills.

Job Summary

The Himan Brown Program is a vibrant community of approximately 650 older adults that fosters intellectual, physical, and spiritual well-being through lifelong learning, wellness, and meaningful engagement. The Social Worker supports many aspects of the program and its members, working collaboratively with the Director of the Himan Brown Program and program staff to promote member well-being, strengthen community connections, and enhance the overall member experience. This position provides psychosocial support, care coordination, and resource navigation; helps welcome and engage new members; develops educational and support programming; supervises social work interns; and collaborates on initiatives that promote healthy aging, reduce social isolation, and expand services for older adults.

Job Responsibilities Include

• Provide supportive counseling, advocacy, information, and referrals for members.
• Monitor member well-being and engagement, identifying needs and connecting members with appropriate community resources and long-term supports.
• Welcome and orient new members, oversee prospective member trial visits, and support member recruitment and retention.
• Facilitate support, bereavement, and discussion groups.
• Develop educational programs and lectures on topics relevant to older adults, including benefits, entitlements, wellness, and community resources.
• Support member committees, including the New Member, Sunshine, and Social Action Committees.
• Partner with the Connection Specialist to coordinate and expand the Social Rx program, serving older adults on the Upper East Side by reducing social isolation, fostering meaningful social connections, and connecting participants with community resources and opportunities for engagement.
• Supervise social work interns and student volunteers and collaborate with colleagues to develop volunteer initiatives.
• Build relationships with community organizations and service providers to strengthen resources available to members.
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Himan Brown Program and contribute to new initiatives as departmental needs evolve.

Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

• Master's degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work and current licensure required.
• SIFI Certificate and/or willingness to become a SIFI supervisor.

Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 9:00am – 6:00pm with a 1-hour unpaid meal break.

Compensation Range

$60,000-$70,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
