Job summary

Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being & Protection, Northern Iowa Service Area, seeks a Social Work Supervisor to lead a unit of social workers in child welfare services. The role requires office presence with occasional telework options and travel within the Service Area.

The ideal candidate will supervise staff, coordinate case planning with teams and courts, and ensure adherence to Iowa codes and department policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or higher and related experience.
• Licensure as social worker preferred or eligible for licensure in Iowa.
• Experience supervising a team of social workers and coordinating services.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise a unit of social workers conducting child welfare activities.
• Coordinate goals and objectives to achieve outcomes and ensure safety of children.
• Assign work, manage schedules, and oversee travel claims and payroll.
• Develop and supervise staff through training and performance evaluations.
• Engage with courts and community resources to support families.
