Job summary

Contra Costa County’s Employment and Human Services Department seeks four Social Work Supervisor II to lead teams in child welfare and juvenile dependency initiatives. Responsibilities include coaching staff, coordinating supervision meetings, and ensuring compliance with County, State, and Federal policies.

A Master’s in Social Work or related field and a California driver’s license are required. Ideal candidates will have 3 years of advanced social casework experience in public or private

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field with a specialization in Marriage, Family Therapy or in a major within the social/human services field or Gerontology specifically for Adult Protective Services.
• License: Valid California motor vehicle operator’s license. Out-of-State license accepted during application process.
• Three years of full-time complex social casework experience in a public/private human services agency equivalent to a Contra Costa County Social Worker III or related risk assessment/proceedings.
• Experience as a Child Welfare Social Worker, knowledge of child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, IPV, and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a team of Social Worker II & III professionals, along with clerical and support personnel.
• Establishing clear performance expectations, tracking and coaching staff progress, and resolving conflicts effectively.
• Managing individual programs and facilitating both individual supervision meetings and group meetings.
• Understanding and interpreting County, State, and Federal Child Welfare policies and protocols, and training staff on policy and protocol implementation.
• Participating in inter-agency meetings and County committees relevant to Child Welfare and juvenile dependency.
