Description
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establish and maintain pupil behavior standards.
- Implement a student evaluation system within state law and district guidelines.
- Evaluate and record students’ progress and communicate with parents as needed.
- Teach within the prescribed course of study at the appropriate grade level.
- Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare substitute lesson plans.
- Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school.
- Participate in community outreach activities, such as open house and PTA meetings, to interpret educational programs.
- Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
- Assist in developing and participating in teacher evaluation processes.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
Work Environment
The noise level is usually moderate. Travel across the district is required. This position requires regular and punctual attendance at the campus; remote work arrangements are not permitted.
Qualifications
The following are the minimum requirements for this position:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks.
- Ability to present subject matter according to state and district guidelines.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Willingness to stay current with professional developments.
