Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure the on-site administration and execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum requirements, with written evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Implement a system of student evaluation within prescribed guidelines and report progress to parents as needed.
  6. Evaluate and record students' progress regularly.
  7. Teach the prescribed course of study for the subject area and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives, including written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents outside of class hours.
  12. Participate in community outreach activities like open houses and PTA meetings.
  13. Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Assist in developing evaluation and assessment systems in collaboration with the principal.
  15. Maintain accurate records and compile reports as required.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. Frequently reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stand and walk. Must routinely lift/move up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment

The environment is usually moderate in noise level. Travel across the district is necessary. Remote work or alternate arrangements are not options, as regular attendance at the campus is essential.

Qualifications
