Great Valley Middle School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Social Studies Teacher to join its team. The ideal candidate will develop students’ knowledge and understanding of world cultures and the importance of the geographical, historical, cultural and political factors that influence the development of world societies. We are looking for a candidate with a strong commitment to cultural understanding, inclusive teaching practices, and collaborative professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver Social Studies curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
  • Create engaging lesson plans that promote critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Teach a broad range of topics including history, geography, economics, political science, and humanities
  • Foster understanding of diverse cultures, human rights, and socio-economic influences
  • Develop students’ research and communication skills
  • Promote media literacy and evaluation of information sources
  • Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
  • Communicate effectively with parents and encourage their involvement
  • Uphold classroom discipline and school policies

Qualifications

  • Valid PA teacher certification in Social Studies
  • Strong classroom management, teamwork and communication skills
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.

$78,045 to $88,395 (Step 10)

$80,520 to $91,120 (Step 10)

$85,470 to $96,570 (Step 10)

$87,945 to $99,295 (Step 10)

$90,420 to $102,020 (Step 10)
