The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). This position is with the Office of Special Disability Programs. The Social Services Program Coordinator identifies and coordinates long-term services and supports to assist individuals with the most severe physical disabilities to remain independent in their homes and communities. Employees in this position oversee ongoing community-based services to these individuals and are responsible for the planning and monitoring of accessibility needs and in-home personal care services to ensure the individuals remain as independent as possible in both the home and community-based setting. Services are provided based on need as determined by a functional assessment and are provided through an individualized plan of services and supports. The Social Services Program Coordinator oversees the process of assessments and reassessment of the individual’s level of care and reviews the plan of services and supports that are completed in the individuals home. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Good oral and written communications skills are required to be proficient in this position. Must be able to prioritize, plan and provide timely services to those individuals being served. Looking for individuals who can multi-task, are very detailed oriented, analytical, and able to solve problems.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience.Agency Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling or related field, and two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
