Job summary

The Salvation Army Clovis NM Corps is seeking a part-time Social Services Assistant to oversee the daily operations of the Social Services Office and coordinate services for those in need. You will interview, evaluate and document client needs, maintaining accurate files and reporting.

Collaboration with local organizations is essential to secure support and donations. Responsibilities include preparing monthly reports, managing volunteers, stocking the food pantry, and supporting seasonal

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Lotus Notes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily aspects of the Social Services Office.
• Interview, evaluate, document and provide assistance for services (food, clothing, shelter, utilities, transportation).
• Maintain and update client files in the TSA computer program.
• Coordinate with businesses, churches, and community organizations to provide services and secure donations.
• Attend community networking meetings as assigned by the Corps Officer.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports (Three Square food bank, Advisory Board).
• Maintain order and neatness of all common areas and office area.
• Stock and maintain the food pantry.
• Recruit, coordinate, train, and supervise volunteers.
• Supervise, schedule, maintain records, and submit reports for community service workers.
• Assist with the Christmas Angel program as needed.
• Assist temporary seasonal staff as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in the non-profit sector with an emphasis on social services is preferred
• Must have knowledge of computers and all Microsoft Office Suite software applications, as well as extensive knowledge and use of Lotus Notes
• Must have excellent interpersonal, telephone, and communication skills; both oral and written
• Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as typing letters and composing emails
• Ability to follow directions without supervision
• Excellent detail, organization and file management skills
• Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment
• Ability to work in a team setting with other professionals
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
