Job summary

The Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in New York City oversees the budgeting processes for approximately 90 city agencies. The DSS/DHS unit seeks an Assistant Analyst/Analyst to support budget planning, monitoring, and analysis in the Social Services task force, including collaboration with multiple social service agencies.

Candidates should have relevant degrees and experience; cover letters are required. The role is hybrid with in-person days at OMB offices (255 Greenwich Street).

Qualifications

• Cover letter is required to be considered for this position.
• Assistant Analyst: Bachelor's degree with 0–1 year of experience in budgetary planning/management or related field.
• Analyst: Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience or Master’s degree in related fields.
• City residency within 90 days and legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing expense and capital plan documents for the Department of Homeless Services.
• Review scopes of work and cost estimates for capital requests.
• Prepare Certificates to Proceed for agency capital expenditures.
• Monitor and forecast caseloads, budgets, expenditures, and funding in assigned program areas.
• Review program operations to evaluate cost efficiencies and service outcomes.
• Represent OMB at meetings and program reviews with agency and external personnel.
• Prepare and present analytical reports on programmatic and budgetary issues.
