Position Title: Social Recreation Program Assistant
Location: Fremont, CA 94539
Position Type: Part-time (8-10 hours a week)
Salary: $23 - $26 (hourly), based on experience

Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is a Bay Area non-profit organization founded in 1996, dedicated to supporting individuals with special needs and their families through community involvement.

We are seeking a passionate Program Assistant to help create engaging social recreation and enrichment experiences. You'll work alongside the Social Recreation Program Coordinator to organize programs and events, supporting individuals with diverse needs. The role requires teamwork, positivity, patience, and creativity, with availability on weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate, promote, facilitate, and supervise social recreation programs, supporting instruction as needed.
  2. Manage client files, attendance records, and observe client progress, reporting updates to the supervisor.
  3. Communicate with families and volunteers, providing program updates and addressing questions.
  4. Recruit, motivate, and recognize volunteers, tracking their hours.
  5. Prepare rooms and materials, assist with clean-up, and ensure a safe environment.
  6. Support participants, creating an encouraging atmosphere and addressing individual needs with patience.
  7. Assist with managing behavioral situations and notify parents or supervisors if additional help is needed.
  8. Document programs through photos and videos.
  9. Collect feedback and share updates to improve programs.
  10. Support special events like Talent Show, Drama Camp, Music Camp, and Resource Festival.
Additional Responsibilities (Part-Time Availability)
  1. Manage program registrations, enrollment, billing, and scheduling.
  2. Create flyers and weekly updates.
  3. Update the program website regularly.
  4. Collaborate with Administration and Accounting for program operations.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma required.
  2. Experience with individuals with diverse needs preferred; background in Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related fields is a plus.
  3. Availability on weekends, including support for events like Talent Show, Camps, and Resource Festival.
  4. Strong organizational and communication skills, detail-oriented.
  5. Reliable, quick learner, patient, and flexible.
  6. Proficiency with Google Workspace; Canva experience is a plus.
  7. Fluent in English; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  8. Ability to travel within Fremont.
