Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland seeks a Social Recreation Director to create a fun, safe Clubhouse environment where youth want to participate after school and during summer. You will lead activities, manage staff and volunteers, oversee budgets, and collaborate with families to support positive youth development.
Responsibilities include planning tournaments, coordinating programs, maintaining safety standards, and fostering teamwork, leadership, and belonging.

BGCO currently serves nearly 2,000 youth across three Clubhouse locations in Oakland, providing outcome-driven programming in three key areas: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.

Job Summary:
The Social Recreation Director is responsible for creating a fun, engaging, and welcoming Clubhouse environment where youth want to spend their time. Think of this person as the “fun architect” of the Clubhouse. Someone who is always thinking about the next game, tournament, competition, celebration, or activity that will get young people excited to participate.
The Social Recreation Director develops and leads a wide variety of recreational activities that promote friendship, teamwork, confidence, good sportsmanship, and a sense of belonging. Programming may include bumper pool, foosball, ping-pong, board games, video game tournaments, arts and crafts, talent shows, karaoke, intramural sports, Club competitions, spirit days, and special events.
This role requires a hands-on, energetic leader who enjoys working directly with youth and can turn everyday recreation into meaningful opportunities for young people to connect, develop new interests, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
