Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Globe–Miami area seeks a community relations professional to support communication, stakeholder engagement and social investment programs at our Arizona operations.

You will help plan events, coordinate partnerships, assess grant proposals and document community activities, while aligning with safety and sustainability goals. A relevant degree and experience in community relations or nonprofit management are preferred, with mining industry exposure as a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline with 1 year of direct experience in community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related field OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline with 3 years direct experience in one of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related field OR
• Associate’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline with 5 years direct experience in one or more of the listed functions OR
• High School Diploma or GED with at least 7 years direct experience in one or more of the listed functions

Responsibilities

• Draft key messages to stakeholders and manage company-sponsored community events.
• Support annual stakeholder analysis, capture interactions in Enablon, and assist meetings and grievance processes.
• Evaluate and coordinate community investment funds, grant proposals, and related committee activities.
• Assist in developing and growing the employee engagement program and site activities.
• Support internal risk evaluation and social performance documents and related administrative tasks.
• Lead capacity-building activities like grant guidance sessions and nonprofit training.

What You Will Do

• Communication, Special Events and Reporting – Assist in drafting key messages to stakeholders (internal and external), manage and attend company-sponsored community events on behalf of the operation, collect data and contribute to information and case studies for annual reporting and other related tasks as assigned.
• Stakeholder Engagement – Support the annual stakeholder analysis process, including capturing interactions, action plans and engagement plans into the Enablon tool, arranging and/or facilitate meetings, supporting formal engagement processes such as Community Partnership Panels, drafting agendas, documenting meetings, posting notes, etc., and supporting the Grievance Management System.
• Social Investment – Serve as the primary intake for site investments, local donation requests and contribution receipts, evaluate and make recommendations to CD manager on a scheduled basis; ensure program materials are up to date and accessible; evaluate grant proposals and help coordinate formal processes such as Community Investment Funds, including Committee member training, preparation for scoring, interviews and review, etc.
• Employee Engagement – Facilitate the development and growth of the company-wide employee engagement program at the designated site(s), including event management and administration for company-sponsored site activities (i.e. chamber events, galas, festivals, parades, etc.), the planning of volunteer events such as Global Volunteer Month, promotion of company programs such as Employee Matching Gifts and the Annual United Way Campaign, and other employee programs.
• Internal Business Coordination – Support and participate in the internal SD risk evaluation and management processes, including the identification of social risks and Site Social Performance Plan, as well as supporting /participating in interface with other departments/functions needed to manage overlapping risks; assist in maintaining and updating key documents in the process and support the preparation of materials for the social aspects of Assurance. Support key administrative tasks as needed to ensure proper tracking and reporting.
• Capacity-Building – Implement various activities associated with community capacity-building activities at the direction of management, such as grant guidance sessions, nonprofit training, leadership development, etc.; research and benchmark successful economic development, community leadership and other capacity development tools, models or initiatives; track efforts and provide support or resources where/when needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and three (3) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
• Associate’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and five (5) years direct experience in one or more or the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
• High School Diploma or GED and at least seven (7) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$75,000-$104,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
