  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 3 years direct experience in community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management.
  • Associate’s degree in related field and 5 years direct experience in community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management.
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 7 years direct experience in community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting key messages to stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Manage and attend company-sponsored community events; contribute to annual reporting and related tasks.
  • Support annual stakeholder analysis, capture interactions, and document meetings in Enablon and other tools.
  • Coordinate site investments, donations, and grant reviews; ensure materials are up to date; support Community Investment Funds processes.
  • Facilitate development and growth of the employee engagement program, including events and volunteer initiatives.
  • Support internal SD risk evaluation and update key social performance documents; aid in cross-functional coordination.

Where You Will Work

Our Miami smelter and rod plant is nestled just 90 miles east of Phoenix. The smelter processes copper concentrate primarily from our company’s Arizona copper mines and is the most significant source of sulfuric acid for our North American leaching operations. What You Will Do
  • Communication, Special Events and Reporting – Assist in drafting key messages to stakeholders (internal and external), manage and attend company-sponsored community events on behalf of the operation, collect data and contribute to information and case studies for annual reporting and other related tasks as assigned.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Support the annual stakeholder analysis process, including capturing interactions, action plans and engagement plans into the Enablon tool, arranging and/or facilitate meetings, supporting formal engagement processes such as Community Partnership Panels, drafting agendas, documenting meetings, posting notes, etc., and supporting the Grievance Management System.
  • Social Investment – Serve as the primary intake for site investments, local donation requests and contribution receipts, evaluate and make recommendations to CD manager on a scheduled basis; ensure program materials are up to date and accessible; evaluate grant proposals and help coordinate formal processes such as Community Investment Funds, including Committee member training, preparation for scoring, interviews and review, etc.
  • Employee Engagement – Facilitate the development and growth of the company-wide employee engagement program at the designated site(s), including event management and administration for company-sponsored site activities (i.e. chamber events, galas, festivals, parades, etc.), the planning of volunteer events such as Global Volunteer Month, promotion of company programs such as Employee Matching Gifts and the Annual United Way Campaign, and other employee programs.
  • Internal Business Coordination – Support and participate in the internal SD risk evaluation and management processes, including the identification of social risks and Site Social Performance Plan, as well as supporting /participating in interface with other departments/functions needed to manage overlapping risks; assist in maintaining and updating key documents in the process and support the preparation of materials for the social aspects of Assurance. Support key administrative tasks as needed to ensure proper tracking and reporting.
  • Capacity-Building – Implement various activities associated with community capacity-building activities at the direction of management, such as grant guidance sessions,nonprofit training, leadership development, etc.; research and benchmark successful economic development, community leadership and other capacity development tools, models or initiatives; track efforts and provide support or resources where/when needed.
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Master’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and one (1) year direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and three (3) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
  • Associate’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and five (5) years direct experience in one or more or the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least seven (7) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Mining industry experience preferred.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Poised, professional, and well-spoken with excellent interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to connect people, ideas, and opportunities.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as business needs require.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Previous classroom instruction, training, or facilitation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of local communities, schools, and organizations is advantageous.
What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$75,000-$104,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
