SUMMARY

The Montgomery County Office of Communications is located in the Commissioners’ Office and is primarily tasked with creating and maintaining effective lines of communication between the county government and its employees, the media, and the public. The Montgomery County Commissioners are dedicated to maintaining a fully transparent government, and the Office of Communications plays a vital role in that effort. The Office of Communications not only informs its audiences on the actions of the County Commissioners, but also provides information to residents on the county services, recreational activities, historical sites, and other government-related news.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Content Creation and Management: Create compelling, informative, and visually appealing content for Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, NextDoor, YouTube, and other platforms. Maintain a content calendar for consistent, timely posts and campaigns. Collaborate with the communications team to develop multimedia content.
• Social Media Engagement: Monitor and engage with the community, responding to comments, messages, and inquiries. Foster positive interactions, discussions, and feedback with residents, businesses, and stakeholders. Proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Analytics and Reporting: Analyze metrics and generate regular reports to evaluate effectiveness. Use data‑driven insights to adjust and improve strategies.
• Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure activities align with County policies, guidelines, and legal requirements. Stay updated on latest trends and best practices and implement them.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of proven experience in social media management and strategy, with a strong portfolio of successful campaigns.
• Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
• Strong understanding of social media strategy, editorial calendars, and content plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, multitasking and time‑management skills.
• Understanding of Montgomery County communities is a plus.
