Social Media Manager
Wondergate | San Diego, CA | Full-Time, On-Site
About Wondergate
Wondergate is a San Diego-based music and events company rooted in underground electronic music and nightlife culture. Our portfolio includes Wondergate Presents, Sunlight Social, and our forthcoming Gaslamp Quarter venue, This Is Not a Club.
We bring artists and audiences together through live shows, daytime gatherings, and thoughtfully produced experiences. We're looking for someone who can translate that energy into a distinctive social presence and help build a lasting community around our brands.
The Role
As Social Media Manager, you'll own the social strategy and day-to-day content across Wondergate's brand, venue, and event accounts. Your mission is to grow our audience, strengthen community engagement, and turn interest into attendance at our events.
This is a hands-on role. You should be equally comfortable planning a campaign, filming at an event, editing short-form videos, and using performance data to improve your work. You'll have support from a photographer and designer while taking responsibility for the content calendar, publishing, community management, and campaign results.
You must live in San Diego and be available to work full-time on-site, including late nights, weekends, and holidays. This position does not offer remote or hybrid work.
What You'll Do
- Own our social strategy. Build platform-specific plans that connect event promotions, artist announcements, venue updates, and everyday storytelling.
- Create compelling content. Film, edit, and publish short-form videos, Reels, Stories, photos, and captions that reflect each brand's identity.
- Capture the live experience. Cover events on-site and turn footage into timely content, recaps, and future promotions.
- Manage the content calendar. Coordinate deadlines, creative assets, approvals, and publishing across multiple accounts.
- Build our community. Respond to comments and direct messages, encourage conversation, and maintain a consistent brand voice.
- Lead social campaigns. Coordinate organic content, paid social advertising, and influencer partnerships around upcoming events.
- Collaborate with our creative team. Give clear direction to our photographer and designer while handling day-to-day content production.
- Turn insights into improvements. Track audience growth, engagement, video performance, and ticket traffic or conversions where measurable.
- Keep our content relevant. Identify trends, sounds, formats, and cultural moments that fit our audience and brands.
What You'll Bring
- At least three years of professional social media management experience, supported by examples of your work.
- Strong hands-on filming and video editing skills, including the ability to independently produce polished short-form content.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or comparable editing tools.
- A strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, platform-specific storytelling, and current social trends.
- Experience managing content calendars, publishing schedules, and multiple social accounts.
- Strong copywriting skills and the ability to adapt your voice across brands.
- Experience using analytics to evaluate campaigns and improve results.
- Familiarity with nightlife and music culture, including house, EDM, open format, vinyl, and lounge environments.
- The organization and initiative to move projects forward independently while collaborating with a team.
Preferred Experience
- Creating content for nightlife, live music, hospitality, venues, or entertainment brands.
- Managing paid social campaigns that support ticket sales or event attendance.
- Coordinating influencer partnerships and artist collaborations.
- Supporting a venue opening, brand launch, or recurring event series.
What Success Looks Like
A consistent, recognizable social presence across our brands; timely, high-quality event content; an engaged and growing audience; and clear reporting that shows which content and campaigns help generate interest and attendance.
