Job description

Autism Speaks is seeking a Social Media Manager to work in our dynamic Marketing Communications department. The Social Media Manager is a self-driven and tech-savvy professional well-versed in social media, with expertise in engaging social audiences through compelling digital content. The Manager will develop and implement strategies to increase social media following and leverage Autism Speaks’ audiences across all current and emerging platforms to support the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

The Social Media Manager will engage followers online by implementing innovative, high-quality strategies that foster a stronger connection between the organization and its online audiences.

Must have experience engaging online Autistic Communities.

While the position is remote, the ideal candidate will be located in Texas or be open to qualified candidates outside this region.

Responsibilities

• Community Engagement: Manage Autism Speaks’ high-traffic global social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
• Plan, design, create, and post content for Autism Speaks’ national social media platforms.
• Implement social media engagement strategies across all platforms.
• Curate content (videos, images, articles), write engaging copy, and use SEO tactics to grow and maintain digital audiences.
• Collaborate daily with internal departments and global regions to optimize content.
• Discover and share engaging user-generated stories from individuals across the spectrum.
• Build and maintain a database of community stories for campaigns.
• Innovate ways to support the organization’s mission on social media.
• Assist leadership in establishing and refining social media profiles and protocols.
• Monitor comments and messages, responding thoughtfully to foster engagement.
• Explore new social networks and identify trends.
• Support local staff’s social media efforts and coordinate best practices.
• Identify KPIs, analyze campaigns, and provide insights for improvement.
• Coordinate messaging with internal departments on social media content.
• Use metrics to identify trends and strategize for maximum engagement.

Position Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, communications, or a relevant field.
• Experience: 5-7+ years engaging online Autistic communities, with proven community management experience; proficiency with Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, and video editing.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
